Boesch Brennan recovers from thumb injury, could replace Victor Martinez in the line-up – MLB News
Earlier this week, news broke out that Victor Martinez will be out of the team for the complete season due to an ACL tear. Martinez looked in commanding form the past season as he helped Detroit Tigers secure memorable wins.
Hitting .330 with 12 home runs and more than 100 RBI’s, he led his side to American League Central division title. Loss of Martinez could be big blow for the Tigers as they may not be able to find a replacement as good as him.
Boesch Brennan, who had a great start to his Major League Baseball, could get a call from the Tigers to perform DH duties. The left handed striker had an absolutely brilliant rookie year.
However, in August 2011, he picked a serious thumb injury, which forced him out of the postseason. Since he has recovered from that injury, Brennan is now available for the DH position. He has batted behind Miguel Cabrera previously and he will be hoping
to secure a permanent place in Tigers’ side.
"I just feel bad for Victor. He's an amazing teammate. I really enjoyed playing with him and having his son around, too, was fun. My heart goes out to him but as far as our team and our organization, we'll be just fine."
Looking to get things back on track, Boesch will be looking to cheer up his fans with his smooth and sweeping left handed power strokes. Being a part of Major League Baseball for nearly three years, he is more experienced and mature than before. The season
2012 provides him with an excellent opportunity to prove his metal.
In an interview with a leading sport website, Boesch said he would bat at any spot the skipper decides for him. He further added that it is an honour for him to bat behind a legend.
Although Boesch will have to face stiff challenges in the upcoming season, he will be looking to prove himself as the best replacement for Victor Martinez. The Tigers, on the other hand, will be eager to form the best possible batting line-up to achieve
their desired results.
