Boglarka Kapas seizes Women’s 800m freestyle gold: Day four – European LC Championships
Boglarka Kapas of Hungary seized gold medal of the Women’s 800m freestyle on fourth day of the continued European Long Course Championships in Debrecen, Hungary on Thursday, May 24.
Kapas demonstrated her stupendous efforts in the distant freestyle event and upset her challengers by proving her eligibility for gold medal of the event.
With her continuous efforts in the 800m discipline, she stayed considerably ahead of her opponents and ensured her top finish on the podium for gold medal by clocking a time of 8 minutes and 26.49 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Coralie Balmy of France, who stayed full body length slower from her preceding swimmer and stepped on the medal rostrum for silver medal by clocking a time of 8 minutes and 27.79 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Eva Risztov of Hungary, who stayed 0.08 seconds slower from her and emerged on the finishing end for bronze medallist by posting a time of 8 minutes and 27.87 seconds.
Fourth position of the discipline was secured by Erika Villaecija Garcia of Spain, who remained almost 1.50 second apart and hit the finishing wall by reporting a time of 8 minutes and 29.21 seconds.
Villaecija Garcia was chased by Melanie Costa Schmid of Spain, who suffered a deficit of just 0.50 seconds and transpired on the wall for fifth position by submitting a time of 8 minutes and 29.71 seconds.
Sixth position of the sixteen-lap event was secured by Camelia Potec of Romania, who remained nearly eight second slower from upsetting her former finisher and cruised her way towards the finishing wall with the timing of 8 minutes and 37.01 seconds.
Potec was chased by Julia Hassler, who was almost one body length apart and obtained seventh best spot of the event by producing a time of 8 minutes and 38.18 seconds.
Last position of the discipline was obtained by Martina De Memme of Italy, who finished eighth in the event and posted a time of 8 minutes and 38.86 seconds.
Furthermore, the position holders received awards and accolades for their commendable efforts after the session.
