Boherna Mac dominates THE OWLERTON BOOKMAKERS SPRINT at Sheffield on Jan 31
Trained by M J Siddall, Boherna Mac made his way to victory in THE OWLERTON BOOKMAKERS SPRINT, held at Sheffield on Tuesday, January 31, 2012.
The 280 metre long Grade OR Heat saw the white and brindle dog dominating the show from pillar to post.
An early pace followed by a handsome lead guided him to victory, which earned his connections a cash prize of £200.
The outcome was a huge surprise for many spectators, as Boherna Mac was not the favourite hound in the competition.
Boherna Mac’s starting price of 4 to 1 was relatively lower than Skywalker Gold –with 10 to 11 betting odds in his pocket.
However, Ballymac Maeve’s son out of Boherna Pet, didn’t get nervous, and reached the winning post in just 16.46 seconds.
Two For Atanner remained behind by a length, finishing the party in 16.54 seconds.
At one stage, the black dog was in a good position to take the lead, however, the luck didn’t favour the son of Run On Boy out of Bengal Lou. J. D. Davy’s trainee secured the position by 1 ¼ lengths.
The excitement went to its next level, when Drumna Bell, sprang up a huge surprise, sealing third place on the chart.
With the winning chances of 33 to 1, the fawn b***h was the least favourite in the race.
However, she stunned her rivals by completing the race in 16.64 seconds, half a length ahead of the most favourite.
Skywalker Gold, failed to do well, and only managed to seize fourth place in the list.
The black dog got crowded on the track and therefore, it took him 16.68 seconds to cross the wire.
The son of Droopys Kewell out of Dianas Ranger, started off the affair from the fourth stall.
The contest for the fifth place was an exciting one. Droopys Victor, and Rockview Venture, put in all out effort to defeat each other, but the latter eventually grabbed the slot by a neck’s margin.
Holding the winning probability of 7 to 1, J. Sharp’s trainee, took 16.76 seconds to reach at the other end of the track.
Droopys Victor, whose starting price was 5 to 1, made it to the finishing line in 16.79 seconds, completing the order of finish.
Boherna Mac has been doing well for last few weeks. To achieve good results in the upcoming races, he just needs to be a bit more consistent.
