  1. many municipal water districts add flourine and chlorine to the water so that it is safe to drink and so that it makes your teeth healthier. the greasy film was probably the grease from something you cooked previously and the white stuff is probably calcium deposits that come from your pipes

  2. maybe your pot still had greasy residue from cooking? and the stuff in the bottom is probably calcium deposits.

  3. The substance is "scale."

It's the various minerals that are in tap water, includinge flouride and chrolorine that DO make the water safer, and promote oral health.

Bottled water water would have the same effect, if boiled (unless you were using distilled water).

  4. The white stuff is all the crappy stuff they add to water to supposedly make it "safe" to drink. I only drink bottles or filtered water because of that. You would not believe what is in tap water!!
