Question:

Boils......will they ever stop?

When I was pregnant, about a year and a half ago, I got a boil on my inner thigh. It got so big and painful, I could hardly walk. I got rid of it with hot washcloths and epsom salt baths. Ever since then, the boils randomly come back. Most of the time they're minor and go away easily, but once in a while they will get huge and it becomes painful to walk/sit. Like right now, I actually have one on each thigh and it's horrible. I know all the tips for getting rid of them but my question is......Are these going to keep reoccuring for the rest of my life???? How do I stop this? I keep the area clean, and I don't shave my inner thighs, so it's not caused by ingrown hairs.

  1. Boils are caused by a bacteria that gets inside of your pores. The reason it swells and sometimes "pops" is because your white blood cells fight off the bacteria like they do with any bacteria and that turns into pus. I also get boils. It is not hereditary or so my doctor says. But my Grandfather had them (someone told him to eat live yeast like the kind that is formed and not a powder and it would cure it... so my grandfather took a peace of yeast like a pea size and ate it and he has not had a boil since.) my mother got them and still gets them and now me and one of my sisters are getting them. My old doctor suggested using ivory soap but it makes your skin dry and if you are a female which you are it smells really bad when you wash below the waist for some reason. She also suggested not using a moisturizer because that creates a sort of film over the skin and can trap the bacteria in and sort of open the door to getting under your skin since it has no where else to go. My new doctor also said no to the ivory and suggested something like Dove or Lever 2000 bar soap that is. And if you get them on the vaginal area to not shave if you do because when the hair grows back it opens the pore more and bacteria can just slide in. I have noticed with me that I get them in sweaty area's. Like my thighs like you and my armpits. My mother is a heavy set lady so she has more folds and she gets them under her b*****s under her stomach her thighs her arm pits. My sister seems to be only getting them on her thighs. I suggest trying to keep the area dry (a hair dryer is really good for that lol towels don't seem to do the trick 100%) and washing with antibacterial soap. We use equate and although we still get them they have decreased by like 95%. I hope something helps that I have said.

  2. They're caused by folliculitis on your inner thigh. not cause by shaving, but cause by constant friction from your thighs rubbing together or from wearing clothes that are too tight.

Honestly, the best way to get rid of it by working out and toning up the area to ease the friction.
