Newcastle United have recently enjoyed a significant run of victories and are looking to put their good fortune to good use while it lasts. Currently ranked third, right behind Manchester United, Newcastle have conceded the least amount of goals this season,
while scoring regularly.
Newcastle administration recently sold the naming rights to their home stadium, St. James’ Park, which will soon be named ‘Sports Direct Arena’. This decision came much to the dismay and anger of local supporters and ex-Newcastle players, to whom the St.
James’ Park has always been a place of immense importance.
"I can only liken it to changing the team's colours from black and white to red and white and making us look like Sunderland,” said Steve Harmison, English Cricketer and a Newcastle fan in the Daily Telegraph.
The Newcastle council has refused to acknowledge the changing of the name and will not be getting sign-boards that say ‘Sport Direct Arena’ in protest.
It seems that Newcastle are now looking to earn money and transform their recent run of success into cash. Their current shirt-sponsor deal with Northern Rock also expires by the end of this season, and there are already talks with other interested parties
for a new sponsorship deal.
If the current transfer activity from the Magpies is any indication of the future, then Newcastle will need all the money they can get their hands on to provide for fees and salaries for incoming players.
Apparently, they are looking to sign Roma forward, Bojan Krkic, who has proven his worth at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 last year. The Spanish International has scored 52 goals in 188 career matches. If the Magpies do manage to get a hold of Bojan,
they’ll have to pay him very generously.
They will also be looking at a shock double deal for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roman-Pavlyuchenko-c31639 from Tottenham Hotspur.  It seems as if Newcastle are going all out this transfer window, bringing more and more class players to Tyneside.
