Bojan Krkic ready to feature more for Barcelona
Bojan Krkic (‘Bojan’) has revealed that he is ready to step up and show that Barcelona will not miss Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
With the Swedish international having left the Camp Nou to join AC Milan on loan, 20-year-old forward Bojan is looking forward to having more opportunities to feature for the first-team.
New signing David Villa will spearhead the Catalan giants’ attacking line this season, but Bojan believes that, with fewer attacking players at the club, he will still have more opportunity to impose himself in Pep Guardiola’s side.
'Minutes will increase'
In an interview with Linyola Radio, Bojan — who has been handed the number nine shirt which Ibra was in possession of before his departure — said that: “Without Ibrahimovic my minutes will increase, not only for me but for everyone because there are fewer forwards here. Zlatan is a high-level player and it would have been more complicated if he had stayed. I prefer to focus on me, trust my abilities and the opportunities I will have here.”
Bojan has been with Barcelona for his entire career after rising through the youth ranks at the club. He played with the Barcelona B team in the 2006-07 season before penning his first professional contract with the senior side when he turned 17. Since making his first-team debut in September 2007, he has gone on to make 129 appearances for the senior team across all competitions and has scored 44 goals.
Despite his tender years, Bojan has already won a host of trophies including two La Liga titles, a Spanish Cup, two Spanish Supercups, the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.
As well as playing for the Under-17 and Under-21 sides, Bojan has also featured for the senior Spain national team, having made his first-team debut in a match against Armenia in September 2008 — his only senior cap to date.
