Bojana Jovanovski defeats Akgul Amanmuradova in qualifying final – Cincinnati Open 2011
World number fifty five, Bojana Jovanovski destroyed Uzbek Akgul Amanmuradova in a bagel (6-0) and 6-3 victory at the Cincinnati Open 2011 during the final qualifying round played at the Lindsay Tennis Centre in Mason, Ohio.
The 19-year-old Jovanovski had previously contested the 27-year-old Amanmuradova here in 2010, where surprisingly the Uzbek won the match in a 6-2, 6-0 victory and had gained one up in their head-to-head score.
The 27-year-old Uzbek had geometric precision and even smashed two aces but she had a very poor serve, winning only 28% of her total service points along with, a similar return in which she bagged a pathetic 30% win of the total
return points. She lost the set with 29% of total set points won.
Mean while, Jovanovski had 80% of her first serve shots on target, 75% win in her first serve, along with a 50% win in her second serve which enabled her to bag a grand 70% of her total service points.
In addition, she was able to save 3 out of 3 break points making it a 100% and also won a hundred percent of her break points. With an exceptional return which was better than her serve, she attained 13 out of 18 points, making
it a total of 725 win in her returns. Hence she won the set with more than double the Uzbek’s total set points.
Amidst the second set both the players had struck 2 double faults each and lost 2 points each but the Serb had smashed 4 aces, while her opponent had one less.
As she wanted revenge on her opponent, there was n stopping her and she hit an unstoppable force of well placed shots, winning an exceptional 75% of her total service points, as well as, not allowing a single break point to her
opponent, as she was capable of saving 100% of her break points.
Whilst, Amanmuradova had saved only 29% of her break points and was unable to win any, along with a poor serve that won her 44% of her service points and along with a relatively poorer return in which she was only able to muster
a 27% win in the total return points, she lost the set by achieving only 36% of her total set points.
Bojana Jovanovski secured a place in the main draw of the event by accomplishing 64% of her total set points which were almost twice as many as her rival’s.
