It was a triumphant day for Boland as they won their Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Week clash against Border by 56 runs at North-West University No1 Ground, Potchefstroom.
Border Under-19s, who chose to field, were given a rude welcome by Boland Under-19s openers BC Fortuin and AG du Toit as the duo clobbered a stand of 55 runs.
Tyebileyo then drew first blood by bowling-out Fortuin with the batsman walking back after hammering an innings of 20 runs off 34 deliveries.
Eleven runs later, they lost their second wicket when AG du Toit was caught and bowled by Notoko after scoring 29 runs.
Boland were then left riddled as they lost two more wickets by the time they reached 67 runs.
The fifth-wicket partnership between DTI Maree and CM Louw brought them back in the match as they led the side towards 112 before the demise of the latter, who scored 21 runs.
DTI Maree and JG http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Graham-Roy-Dilley-c60632 then kept the team’s innings moving forward, reaching 154 before Maree lost his wicket with 36 runs to his name.
Boland Under-19s ended their innings after reaching 219 with Dill unbeaten on 50 and RPW Cyster on 34.
Requiring 220 runs to win, Border Under-19s got off to a 20-run start before losing their first wicket when opener Y Olifant perished after scoring 16 runs.
C Sansom was unlucky as he fell without opening his account. This was followed by the demise of A Ferreira who lost his wicket cheaply after scoring six runs.
The loss of three wickets with 28 runs on the board had put Border under pressure preventing them from scoring freely. In order to reach the target it was imperative for them to play openly, however, it was easier said than done, in their situation.
