Easterns Under-19s 104/6 (20/20 ov) v Boland Under-19s 107/0 (16.5/20 ov) - Boland Under-19s won by 10 wickets (with 19 balls remaining)
On Tuesday, Boland Under-19s secured an astounding victory against Easterns Under-19s by ten wickets, chasing down 105 runs with 19 balls remaining at South African Defence Force Ground, Potchefstroom.
Boland Under-19s, who chose to field, made early inroads by nabbing their first wicket with only nine runs on the board.
This was an encouraging start for them which put the batting side under pressure right from the get go.
Then with just 17 on the board, Easterns Under-19s suffered the loss of their star performer, AM Muller, who had his stumps incinerated by Louw after scoring ten runs.
With both openers back in the pavilion, the third-wicket partnership between Jurie Snyman and KK Themane was a big save for Easterns Under-19s, as it led the side towards 89 runs.
This partnership could have continued for eternity had it not been for Boland’s Nel, who dismissed Themane after the batsman had amassed 28 off 38 deliveries.
It was imperative for the batting side not to lose focus and continue with the good work in order to post a daunting score on the board for the opponents to chase.
However, Louw then destroyed the batting contingent by dismissing Snyman, who was caught after bolstering a knock of 43 runs off 51 deliveries.
The two bowlers then wreaked havoc upon Easterns Under-19s, restricting them on 104 for six in 20 overs. The last four batsmen failed to score in double figure which hurt their side dearly.
Requiring a small target to chase after, Boland openers BC Fortuin and HHJ Kotze gave a ballistic performance as they stayed unbeaten, leading their side across the finish line in 16.5 overs.
BC Fortuin hammered 31, while his opening partner HHJ Kotze stayed at top with a knock of 67 off 65.
In the bowling department, ON Nel and CM Louw shared three wickets each, as they restricted the batsmen from gaining confidence.
