Boland Under-19s 229/8 (50 ov) v Northerns Under-19s 187 (46.3 ov) - Boland Under-19s won by 42 runs
Boland Under-19s won their Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Week match against Northerns Under-19s by 42 runs on Wednesday, at Witrand Cricket Field, Potchefstroom.
Boland Under-19s, who chose to bat after winning the toss in the 50-over fixture, got off to a 32-run start, before AG du Toit was snapped up by Rasemene after he had scored three runs off 38 deliveries.
In the second-wicket partnership between BC Fortuin and DV Stofberg the batting side took the score to 68, before Northerns Under-19s struck for the second time in the match when Boltman dismissed BC Fortuin for 43.
The batting side then made a commendable comeback with DV Stofberg and HHJ Kotze, as the two batsmen smashed the score to 113. This was an impressive partnership as the bowlers were dominated by the batsmen.
However, this collaboration met its end on the wicket of Kotze, who faltered after hitting 26 runs off 29 deliveries.
Even after losing three wickets, Boland were in no mood to let the opposition achieve superiority, as DV Stofberg and DTI Maree continued the ruthless batting onslaught.
The partnership led the side towards 169, before Stofberg was given lbw after jabbing 54 runs off 79 deliveries.
DTI Maree was the next highest scoring batsman with a knock of 58, as Boland posted a daunting score of 229 in 50 overs for the loss of eight wickets.
Northerns Under-19s had a very disappointing start to their run chase, as they lost their top three wickets with only five runs on the board.
After this terrible start, they now needed to save pride by playing till the 50th over in a bid to keep the fans interested.
GJ Snyman, was the top scoring batsman from his side with a knock of 89 runs, backed by a 62-run knock from J Smit.
Unfortunately for them this was a bad day, as they succumbed in 46.3 overs with 187 runs on the board.
Boland’s JG http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Graham-Roy-Dilley-c60632 and ON Nel were instrumental in this victory, as the two shared four-wickets each.
