Boland v South Western Districts – CSA Provincial One-Day Competition, 2012/13 – Match Update
Launching an intense bowling attack, the South Western Districts limited Boland to a low total which they then went on to chase down with ease, claiming a 3-wicket win in their match during the ongoing CSA Provincial One-Day Competition, played at the Boland
Park in Paarl on November 4.
The South Western Districts won the toss and elected to field first, after which http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Christiaan-Jonker-c50680 (7.2-0-29-3) proceeded to launch a fierce assault which saw Boland restricted, all
out, to 128 by the 43rd over.
Only four batsmen – skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ryan-Clement-Cavanagh-Canning-c87289 (23), and Ockert Erasmus (27*) – were able to reach double figures, while the rest failed to face up to the oppositions’ bowling attack. A total of three
batsmen – opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dewald-Botha-c53937 – were dismissed on duck.
Michael Loubser (5), Ferisco Adams (9), and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lizaad-Williams-c73045 (5) were all unremarkable, and ultimately fell prey to Jonker. By the time Rabian Engelbrecht (7) was run out by wicketkeeper Brendon Louw in the 43rd over, Boland were all out for a
paltry final score of 128.
By way of compensation, the team launched an aggressive bowling attack, with all five bowlers managing to pick up at least one wicket each, while Erasmus (4-1-25-2) and Stevens (3-1-9-2) remained the stand-out bowlers. However, they were ultimately unable
to restrict their opponents.
The South Western Districts’ innings got off to a poor start, with skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adrian-McLaren-c938 (20),
followed by a 50-run partnership with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Glen-Neal-Addicott-c60154, who top-scored for the team with 38.
McLaren fell prey to http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Luthando-Lucas-Mnyanda-c73322 (18) were both sent packing by Erasmus. Addicott was caught out by Petersen off Stevens in the 21st over, after which Kobus Scholtz (0) was dismissed by Adams, and Pieter
Stuurman (12) by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Stevens-c91368.
However, by this point, in the 23rd over, the team had already reached 124 for 7, and some minor final contributions from Louw (2*) and Dukes (4*) got the South Western Districts safely up to 131, with 3 wickets, and 160 deliveries still remaining.
