Bold Chieftain to take upon his stallion duties after retiring to Victory Rose Thoroughbreds
The winner of the Grade 2, San Francisco Mile, Dwaine Hall and Langbein Trust’s nine-year-old Bold Chieftain, has retired to take upon the responsibility, and a refreshed career extension as a stallion at Victory Rose Thoroughbreds in Vacaville, California.
Bred by Dwaine Hall, and was trained by William Morey, Bold Chieftain, has been successful eighteen times out of the forty-seven times he raced.
Bold Chieftain was seventh in the Sunshine Millions Classic on 26th January 2008 at Santa Anita Park, which was raced over 1 1/8 miles. On 7th June 2008, he was placed fourth in the Grade 3, Ack Ack Stakes
at Hollywood Park, and then finally the horse of Chief Seattle out of Hooked On Music, won the California Dreamin’ Handicap on 2nd August, 2008 at Del Mar.
He then claimed the second position in the Grade 2, Del Mar Mile Handicap on 24th August at Del Mar raced over a mile. Bold Chieftain was entered in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Mile in which he finished eighth on 25th October,
2008.
He won the Cal Cup Classic on 3rd October at Santa Anita, raced over 1 1/8 miles, setting Lethal Heat second, and Star Nicholas third. He then came fourth in the Grade 2, San Pasqual Handicap on 9th January
2010 at Santa Anita which was raced over 1 1/16 miles.
After a gap of two years, Bold Chieftain defended his Sunshine Millions Classic title by winning it on 30th January 2010 at Santa Anita, which was raced over 1 1/8 miles. Palladio qualified as a runner up, while Unusual Smoke
finished third.
Bold Chieftain monopolized his next start too, as he won the Grade 2, San Francisco Mile on 24th April, 2010 at Golden Gate Fields which was raced on turf over a mile.
He was second in the Grade 3, Berkeley Stakes on 30th May, 2011 at Golden Gate Fields which was raced over 1 1/16 mile.
The nine-year-old has eighteen wins, fourteen seconds and four thirds from the forty-seven career starts that Bold Chieftain has made. His earnings through the years have accumulated to $1,683,181.
The horse has made himself comfortable in the corner stall that he has been allotted at the farm as the owner of the farm said:
“We’re thinking we should get 40 mares to him,” said Jackson. “We’ve done a lot of pedigree research, and we’ve already had more calls about him than any other stallion”.
Bold Chieftain stands at his new home with a listed fee of $3,000 after finishing second in the final allowance race on 16th January at Golden Gate Fields.
