Bold Silvano gives a nightmare performance for his speculative trainer, in the Group 3, Firebreak Stakes on 9th February
"I would be disappointed if Bold Silvano didn't fight the finish out because I think he has shown us enough to be competitive. He's fresh, so he'd run well over a mile, so I'm nervously optimistic.” This was said by the trainer, M De Kock before the
Group 3, Firebreak Stakes sponsored by Dubal on 9th February.
Bold Silvano did indeed make it a bitter experience for his trainer by finishing fifth while riding with Christophe Soumillon on a field of nine contesting.
The six-year-old bay horse of Silvano, out of Bold Saffron, Bold Silvano is owned by Ascot Stud Pty Limited.
Breaking from the seventh stall, Bold Silvano settled fifth in a field of nine, and could not really manage delivering a decent performance.
However, he did give a kick to his diminishing chances of victory during the concluding stages of the race, but he could not push ahead due to the wall of the leading cluster that comprised of Sandagiyr riding with Silvestre De Sousa, Tamaathul with
Ahmed Ajtebi onboard, and African Story coupled with Mickael Barzalona.
The six-year-old was given a year off before he made his return to the same venue from which he withdrew due to an injury a year back.
This sort of an attempt was the least bit expected by his connections. The only start that Bold Silvano made in 2011, resulted in a victory in the Group 3, Al Maktoum Challenge Round II on 3rd February.
"You never know when horses come back from injury whether they want to dig deep when the chips are down, but I have a gut feeling that he wants to run and he looks fantastic," commented the speculative trainer before the race.
The race was dominated by the entries of Saeed bin Suroor, whose Sandagiyr won the race and his other entry, African Story finished third after his stable mate went through the wire.
The other Godolphin trainer, Mahmood Al Zarooni had, Ecliptic, representing him, who ended the ordeal by making it to the seventh position in the race.
Al Raihe had three entries in the race, Tamaathul, who was the runner up, Derbaas who finished fourth just ahead of Bold Silvano, and Alazeyab, who completed the order of finish.
Bold Silvano was being pointed for the Dubai World Cup, but this race has severely disturbed his chances for even getting placed in the Cup, and the outcome has also shifted his odds for worse.
