Bold Sir Brian expected to dominate proceedings in Sam´s Bars Handicap Chase
Bold Sir Brian is likely to dominate proceedings in the Sam´s Bars Handicap Chase at Haydock in England on Wednesday, March 21, 2012. The class-2 event has a cash prize of £12,996 for the winning horse.
The going will be good to soft in the 2 mile 4 furlong race, which is scheduled to start at 4:25 GMT. A total of nine entries were initially confirmed for the event, but El Lobo’s name has been withdrawn from the list.
The five-year-old gelding was one of the top contenders for victory, but suffered a setback. His trainer, David Pipe, would have been disappointed with this, as he was hopeful of winning.
This means that only eight runners will be seen in action now. Following are the names of them: Bold Sir Brian, Tiger O´toole, Chance Du Roy, Door Boy, You Know Yourself, Saveiro, Latanier and Pret A Thou.
Things seem to be a lot easier for Bold Sir Brian, who is in sensational form at the moment. The bookmakers are pretty much confident that he will be able to win easily whereas the punters will also be placing the maximum number of bets in his favour.
Lucinda Russell’s trainee has enjoyed a lot of success in races while chasing. He has entered five of such events, winning three of them. He has also secured a couple of runner up positions, which suggests that he is a quality runner and has never ended
up outside the top two.
The six-year-old gelding has shown terrific form in recent times, as he completed a hat-trick of winning races. He has been dominant in most of his outings, thus has got very good chances of shining at Haydock today.
In his most recent outing at Musselburgh in the John Smith’s Future Champions Novices’ Chase, Bold Sir Brian dominated the rest of the runners and finished on top by a comfortable margin of 22 lengths. He ran superbly and did not allow anyone else to come
closer in the end.
The race favourite runner will be partnered by Peter Buchanan, who has won 87 races while chasing. He will be looking forward to delivering another solid show ay Haydock today.
Philip Hobbs’ trained runner, Chance Du Roy, might manage to cause a few problems for the race favourite, but the rest of the participants do not seem to have any chances of winning.
