Bold Thady Quill to give trainer, K. J. Condon, a straight second win by dictating the terms of the Kilkenny Handicap
Two days down the road after his success at Curragh, Bold Thady Quill has entered the Kilkenny Handicap at Gowran Park over a mile, a furlong and hundred yards on Tuesday, 3rd July. His chances of excelling today stand at 9 to 4, and competing
with him for the €13,000 prize money are six other three-year and above contestants.
Tale Of The Cat’s five-year-old chestnut gelding won the Dubai Duty Free Finest Surprise Handicap (Premier Handicap) on 30th June, 2012 at Curragh over a mile. Engineering over the mile track with the jockey, Shane Foley, guaranteed the five-year-old
success.
The two stayed in the rear by the mid division, sped to the sixth position two furlongs under way, and notched up to the second position during the final furlong. The duo gave a hard time to the always prominent candidate of the race, Spa’s Dancer, who had
to compromise by a mere ¾ of a length.
Ending third was, Gunner Lindley while the favourite, Potomac, finished fourth in the field of fourteen.
Bold Thady Quill, out of mare, Jazzie, was successful in the http://www.thetote.com BBQ Evenings At Naas Handicap on 4th June, 2012 at Naas over seven furlongs. The favourite won by the almost negligible margin of just half a length, under the guidance of jockey, Shane Foley.
Qualifying as the runner up was, Jamesie, while Joe Eile, ended third.
The K. J. Condon trained will race over a longer distance than the one he closed in during the last two victories. This will be his second straight chance of conquering the track with jockey, Shane Foley.
The longer distance can pose to be a challenge but the companionship of the two will get the going easy. Staying back in the rear, reserving energy and then bursting out at the right time with the aim at the leading cluster, will get Irish gelding dominance
over the other contestants.
He will need to look out for Park Ranger and Sli Na Fiarana, as both can prove threatening in their own distinct ways. Park Ranger is striving for consistency while the latter posted the seasonal success lately.
