Need: something bold, exciting, and unique

Problems: pink carpets, blinds, and other accents that it needs to go with.

Furniture - light wood

Bedspread - white duvet

me: female college student, looking for appropriate room but can be funky and ridiculous as well.

  1. My first thought is brown with the light furniture and pink carpet but if you want funky you can use just about any bright color as long as you incorporate a little pink in the accents.  Orange and pink?  red and pink? yellow and pink?

  2. How about chocolate brown?

  3. No color- mirrors on all the walls. Well, its' bold anyway.

  4. i have one black wall and the rest neon green and get a  zebra throw and pillows

  5. play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

I think "vinyard" (# 7150) from their SoftSuede faux finish collection would be very dramatic & coordinate well with what you have.

You can also take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:

You can get color suggestions & they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.

  6. I moved into a rental once that had that mauvy-pink carpeting.  You can't fight it, you have to try and work with it.  It sucks, I know.  This is what I ended up doing:  I painted my walls a chartreuse-like green.  It is kind of a subdued dirty lime-like color, like something in nature.  It is kinda bright, but that is where the funk factor comes in.  The only thing about going this route is that it is girly-but can have a serious edge.  I got lucky and found two pillows that were this really funky, vintagy floral print at Urban Outfitters when I did mine.  The result was like a punk-rock version of shabby chic.  Everything else I tried looked like the 80's threw up in my room.

    Good luck.
