Bolivia vs. Costa Rica – Full Time Report – Copa http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/America-c38390 2011
With the first half ending as a goalless draw, the Bolivian coach seemed to be satisfied with his team’s performance; however, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Allen-Guevara-c5225 came on for Madrigal on the left wing.
With the match starting in the second half, Bolivia made sudden impact. Moreno was fouled by Calvo right 25 yards out and the Bolivian star decided to take the free kick himself. Moreno’s free kick was well met by Campbell and his headed effort flew over
the cross bar.
Costa Rica came up with a quick reply to the threat imposed by the Bolivians. The Costa Rican midfielder, Mora had a chance to score from close range as he was allowed to get past the Bolivian defence and enter the 18 yard box. Despite being so close to
the goal, he chose power over technique and he smacked the shot wide off the target.
Two minutes later, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arias-c6476 seemed to be casual about the shot but he couldn’t really control it. The young Costa
Rican striker, Martinez ran towards the ball and coolly finished it to help his team take the lead.
The goal came with quite a shock. The Costa Ricans seemed to be the least favourite side to win anything in Group A but now they were leading against a team which managed to draw against the group favourites, Argentina.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bolivia-c2855 kicked things off again and imposed threat on the Costa Rican defence yet again. During the 60th minute Arce decided to take a shot on goal when he was given a lot of space right outside the 18 yard box. However, Acosta came right in front
of the Bolivian striker to deny him any shots on goal.
Costa Rica won a free kick 40 yards out. Campbell decided to take the free kick and it was very well met by Mora. His volleyed effort almost found the back of the net and suddenly the Bolivian http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Defence-c38904 seemed to be quite vulnerable as they were all on the
attack while the Costa Ricans were playing counter attacking tactics.
With only two minutes gone in Mora’s outstanding effort on goal, Campbell again tried his luck on goal and managed to hit the cross bar. The shot deserved a goal but it looked as if it was not Campbell’s night. Bolivians were now all over the pitch and seemed
to be getting quite vulnerable – especially in the midfield.
Costa Ricans were trying to find the second goal in order to kill the game off. During the 69th minute of the game, Mora took a shot on goal. With the Bolivian goalkeeper helpless, Rivero decided to handle the ball right on the goal line and he
was instantly sent off by the referee. Bolivians were a goal and a man down.
The penalty was awarded to the Costa Ricans and they had a chance to score the second goal they were craving for. However, the penalty was saved by Arias who simply judged where Guevra is going to place it. Guevra then had a chance to score on a rebound
by Arias was on his toes yet again as he saved the day for the Bolivian side.
Minutes later Costa Rica again came on the attack. Campbell looked to be clear on goal when Flores took him down. Flores was already yellow carded and he received a second yellow and the Bolivians were down to nine men. The game looked to be over for the
Bolivians who were simply no match for the Costa Rican attack.
With Flores off, Bolivians were all on the back foot. Costa Ricans were toying with the Bolivian defence line. Guzman took a free kick from outside the box and his shot deflected off the post. It was quite unlucky, the way Costa Ricans were in front of goal
throughout the night. The framework denied them thrice.
With only a minute gone in the free kick, Costa Ricans again moved up and this time it was Campbell yet again who imposed the threat on the Bolivian defence line. A long through ball was played by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Martinez-c24468 and it looked as if the Arias would reach it before
Campbell but the Costa Rican striker sprinted towards the ball, slid in and easily tapped it between Arias’ legs. It was a beautiful goal and it was definitely game over for the Bolivians who were no match for the high-flying Costa Rican side throughout the
game.
The match ended 0-2 in favour of Costa Rica. Costa Rica were the least favourite side to win anything in the group and with Costa Rica winning a match, they now have three points in the group – more than Argentina. The situation now looks quite intriguing
for all the teams in Group A.
Bolivia has to play the table toppers Colombia while Argentina have to face http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Argentina-c2841 are now in a “must win” situation against
Costa Rica or they will have to qualify through the “best third placed team” quota.
