Ashes series is hardly two weeks away and expectations are rising day by day. Australia will be naming its squad on Monday and one expects they would include some quality fast bowlers in their lineup.
Wicket at Brisbane normally suits fast bowlers and is famous for its seam conditions. Though, Greg Chappell who is also the member of Australia’s Selection panel has suggested that http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 should include a spinner in their side. This could turn out to
be a big gamble for the Aussies as they have only one genuine spinner in their side, Nathan Hauritz who struggled during the Indian tour.
Australian bowling can never be taken lightly in their home conditions, and they have bowlers who can bowl in various conditions. Most of their current fast bowlers have been around for some time and have bowled reasonably well in different Test series.
They all have decent variety in their bowling but how much of a threat will they be posing, remains to be seen. Mitchell Johnson definitely would be leading their attack and he would have to provide guidance to other bowlers who have not played a lot of Test
cricket.
Bollinger is one bowler Australia would be pinning its hopes on. Bollinger, who suffered stomach injury in the Mohali Test, has now fully recovered from the stomach injury and is hundred per cent fit now. Bollinger would obviously be raring to go to prove
his mettle.
Bollinger made his Test debut against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 at Sydney in 2009. Since then he has become an important member of the Australian side. What makes him effective and lethal is his angle and swing. In the upcoming Ashes series, bowling will play a crucial
role and whichever side bowls out the opposition twice would definitely be the one to lift the Ashes.
It has been noticed with England that once their batting is made uncomfortable by some consistent quality bowling they do find it difficult to bat with ease and manage big scores. Johnson and Bollinger both will have to make things difficult for England
and they would have to make sure that they won’t allow English batsmen to settle early on.
Bollinger has this tendency and angle of testing the batsmen and making them uneasy in different spells. Australia needs a bowler who can create a mental impact on the batsmen. For Australia, Bollinger is one bowler who has the ability to do that. Australia
in past has always find it much easier to bat when their bowling has clicked for them. The load on other bowlers would be much lesser if Bollinger is able to bowl in right areas. Bollinger along with Johnson can keep the batsmen in check.
Bollinger has taken 49 wickets from his 11 Tests at an amazing average of 23.79. He also has two 5-wicket hauls to his name.
For any Test match, wicket-taking ability is something of prime importance as sides always favour those bowlers which have the ability to get batsmen out frequently in different sessions.
In the series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755, he was able to create pressure on the batsmen and managed 12 wickets by not giving many runs. If Bollinger can take his wicket taking habit into the Ashes series than this would be just what the doctor would order for the
Aussies.
Australian bowling line-up would definitely be powered by Bollinger’s return, and along with Johnson and Hilfenhaus they definitely have great chance in barring England from scoring big.
