Well the guys in the malayalee and other south indian movies are normally not as handsome and good looking as the north indian actors and are more chosen for their acting abilities and talents, the girls chosen for south indian movies have to look good (sometimes at the expense of talent) and so some can pass into bollywood. that's what my guess would be

its hard to tell by looking at an actress that if she is south indian or noth because of all the makeup

but its easy to tell by looking at in south indian actor that he is an south india that why actor only can limited movies

by looking at an north indian its hard to tell if he is an north or south indian

who said Madhavan or Kamal hassan   did well  ,Madhavan  hardly has one or 2 movies in Hindi .Hassan ddi a few but mostly played a southie

Rajni did a bit better so if Amitabh is a 100 Rajnis hindi work is say 8 Kamal 8 or 9 and Madhavan 3

Others like Arvind swamy  and mohan lal got noticed becoz of the remakes of their south hits

without sounding derisive..i have always found Mani Rathnams work laughable( i am sorry) he has no sense of Hindi as a   language or the culture and literature.and plz pardon me for saying AR Rehman is the music parallel of Rathnam

translating tamil songs to hindi is merely a joke and will never succeed with me

The only  south India male artiste i admired till date is  Sir KJ Yesudas..hes divine  .even in HINDI

SP bala needs to be given credit coz he did what eh had to do in hindi without faking the southie accent
