Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan to be the face of Champions League T20 2011 – Cricket News Update
Preparations have been made as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 sets out to host the annual Nokia Champions League (NCL) Twenty20 (T20) tournament, which comes as the 3rd season of the all famous limited overs competition.
However, all smiles come for the Indian home crowd which was excited to learn that their national superstar and Bollywood celebrity, Shahrukh Khan, was recently unveiled as the face of the competition by the official broadcasters and commercial partners
of the event.
Commenting about the star’s inclusion on the promotional campaign of the mega event, the Broadcaster's Managing Director, Aloke Malik said, “Shahrukh http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 is a great fit as the face of Nokia Champions League Twenty20 and we are delighted to have him with
us on this fascinating journey. The promo which features Shahrukh is already on-air and has received rave reviews. His participation is however not limited to being the public face of NCL T20. As a team owner, I am sure he will be looking forward to Kolkata
Knight Riders qualifying for the main edition of the tournament.”
The official also came out with appreciation for Nokia and stated that it was a matter of pride to have the company as the sponser for the event.
Nokia, alongside other major corporations, including Toshiba, and Coca-Cola, have been designated as the on-air as well as the on-ground sponsors. Other major, on-air sponsorships include Ambuja Cement, Next Retail and Digiworld.
As for King Khan, the Bollywood heart-throb will not only be the brand ambassador of the tournament but will also be part of the competition as the team owner of Kolkata Knight Riders, who are scheduled to make their first appearance on the tournament.
However, the Knight Riders will only be brought on board if they win the qualifying matches against New Zealand’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Somerset-c843, on September 21.
Other teams participating in the qualifying matches include Ruhuna (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013).
The tournament will officially kick off on September 23, lasting till the final in Chennai, on October 9, 2011.
