goal later on to defeat the Gunners 2-1.
Arsenal striker Robin van Persie’s equalizer at the beginning of the second half was not enough and Bolton walked away with all three points. Not only did they earn the crucial points, Bolton also successfully ended Arsenal’s title hopes.
There is no doubt that the Chelsea forward has done his side a huge favour by scoring against Arsenal and has ended their title dreams. Sturridge said, “I think I've done the boys at Chelsea a bit of a favour. I'm sure I'll be getting a few texts.”
With Chelsea securing a 3-0 win over West Ham United the same weekend, the Blues now have a three-point lead over their London rivals. With only four games remaining in the season, it seems like Chelsea are the only competition league leaders Manchester
United have to face to claim the domestic title.
Sturridge revealed he felt the Blues had a decent chance of retaining the Premier League title. The striker said while speaking to reporters, “I think this result makes it a two-horse race. It's between Chelsea and Manchester United now. It's going to be
a tense four games but hopefully Chelsea will take the title.”
While insisting he was determined to return to Stamford Bridge at the end of the season, after his loan spell ended, the young forward said he was enjoying his time at Bolton. The Englishman said, “At the moment I'm just pleased to help Bolton but to be
able to help my actual club too is great.”
Sturridge was sent to Bolton on a loan for the remainder of the season in the January transfer window to make room for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 forward, Torres arrived at Chelsea during the winter transfer window for a record breaking fee of
£50 million.
However, the Spaniard has proved to be a flop so far, scoring just one goal since his arrival. His first goal came after a painful 732-minute wait, after he was brought on as a substitute against West Ham United. Sturridge on the other hand has been terrific
goal scoring form at Bolton.
The 21-year-old admitted he was keeping a close watch on the developments at Chelsea and was pleased Torres had scored, “I was delighted to see Torres get his first goal. I hope I can get to double figures for Bolton. It would be amazing.”
In nine appearances for Bolton, Sturridge has scored seven goals and is now looking forward to increasing his goal tally. Even though there are just four games remaining, with the form he is in, Sturridge is more than likely to find the back of the net a
few more times.
