Gretar Steinsson, the 29-year-old Bolton Wanderers right back, revealed his side could no longer rely on excuses for their poor form in the English Premier League.
Bolton Wanderers find themselves back at the bottom of the Premier League table after they stumbled to a 1-1 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers over the weekend. In the meantime, Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 secured a win over Manchester United which saw them climb
up the table.
Unfortunately for the Trotters, they have been in terrible form this season and managed just their fourth point at the Reebok Stadium. It was http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sam-Ricketts-c32291 who scored the only goal for his side after returning from a ten month long lay out.
Apart from his other excuses such as the unfavourable fixture list, Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle has constantly been blaming his long injury list and missing players. The Scotsman believes his side have not been at their best due to the absence of
Stuart Holden, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sean-Davis-c32688 and Tyrone Mears.
However, Steinsson did not feel it was fair to blame the club’s poor performance on the absence of the aforementioned players. He urged his side to do better, especially with most of the players having returned from their respective injuries.
Steinsson said while speaking to reporters:
“It's really good for the squad to get these players back. Sean is back again too and he's a fantastic player that unfortunately we never really saw at his best when he came to Bolton.”
He continued:
"We got ourselves into this by how we played and now we have to get ourselves out of it because it's our own fault. We have to man up and get these points that we need. I think we've got enough characters and experienced players."
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Iceland-c2921 international himself has been missing due to injury and recently through illness. While he was looking to make a contribution against Wolverhampton Wanderers, he instead found himself ill and unable to feature for the Trotters.
Steinsson said:
“I waited a long time to be in the team against Blackburn and I was hoping to get a start against Newcastle but unfortunately I had to be in bed instead.”
