Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle admitted he was interested in New York Red Bulls defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gary-Cahill-c14439 being linked with a move away.
It is highly likely that Cahill will leave the club in the January transfer window so Coyle is on the lookout for replacements. So far, the Scotsman has his sights set on the 24-year-old http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/United-States-c3034 international and will be looking to lure him to the
English Premier League.
Ream spent last week training with West Bromwich Albion and will now be joining Bolton Wanderers for a week’s training so he can keep fit until the Major League Soccer season begins. Coyle was hopeful of securing his signature, having observed him previously.
However, Coyle has already been handed with a rejection in his chase for the player. The Red Bulls sporting director Eric Soler revealed that Ream had only gone to the English Premier League for training for the additional experience and was going to return
to the United States.
Coyle said while speaking to reporters:
“Red Bulls have said that he is not for sale and that is totally understandable - I would say that about my top players.”
Coyle accepted that while New York Red Bulls did not wish to part ways with their best player, he still retained interest. The manager will do his best to try and convince the player to join the Premier League, but only with his club’s permission.
He revealed:
“Tim Ream is an outstanding player. He is someone I have known about for a couple of years now and I have watched his games extensively.
I can totally understand why the Red Bulls would say he is their player, because he is a prized asset.”
According to Coyle, Ream was a New York Red Bull player and he would only hold talks with him if he was given permission by the club.
Coyle continued:
“He is a New York Red Bulls player and I wouldn't say anything else beside that because you have to respect that he has come in for a week's training with the permission of the club.”
