Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle angry with squad
Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle revealed he was becoming increasingly angry at his side’s seemingly deteriorating performances. The Trotters find themselves still in the bottom half of the Premier League table with the first half of the season coming to a close.
Their last five matches have seen Bolton Wanderers lose four fixtures, which just adds to Coyle’s misery. The Scotsman had problems at the beginning of the season, with a bulk of his first team missing due to injury, which has carried forward to the start of the season.
Bolton Wanderers travelled to West Bromwich Albion over the weekend and were dealt with an early goal by the home side. They managed to steal an equalizer and had hopes of a draw, unfortunately for them the host side found the back of the net once again and won all three points.
Coyle said in an interview:
“We bounced back from going a goal down and showed real character, real quality. That's my frustration, and it's killing me. Disappointment is an understatement.”
Coyle admitted he was extremely disappointed and angry with his side for being unable to secure a positive result. Instead, they once again ended with no points and continue to remain at the bottom-half of the Premier League table.
He revealed:
“I'm angry because it was a good chance for us to get a positive result and get that unbeaten run going - a win, a draw, whatever it takes.
And I have said to the players that they cannot let this type of opportunity pass them by.”
The manager went as far as questioning the squad’s fighting spirit and want to win, as he felt the players had been alright with a draw. Coyle revealed he wanted his players to fight for a better result and after a terrible start, deliver better performances.
The manager challenged the players to ask themselves if the bottom of the league was where they wanted to be. Coyle continued:
“If you are compact and focused, the minimum you leave with is a draw - but we didn't have enough of them to do that.”
