Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle backs Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish ahead of clash
Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle revealed he was certain he could handle the criticism the job of being a Premier League manager brought along with Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish. The two have been friends and have been under a lot of pressure for failing
to deliver favourable results.
While Aston Villa have not been struggling as much as Bolton Wanderers, they are also under pressure for failing to win their Premier League fixtures. The Trotters have tasted defeat in 11 out of their 14 fixtures in the Premier League.
They are currently at 18th place on the Premier League table and desperately need points if they wish to climb up from the relegation zone with the Christmas period approaching. They host Aston Villa over the weekend, who have managed just one
win in their last seven fixtures.
Coyle said while speaking to reporters:
“We all know the nature of the game we are involved in and I've said before, so long as people are not personal in terms of their criticism, then so be it.”
Both the Scotsman have been brought under pressure and there has been debate claiming that their respective clubs would be better off without them. However, according to Coyle, both of them had been in the game long enough to deal with the criticism.
He revealed:
“We have all been in the game long enough and are big enough and ugly enough to accept what goes on.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 knew the challenges he was going to face and he also knows, as I do, that when you are winning games everything is rosy in the garden.”
McLeish took charge of Aston Villa from rivals Birmingham City and has been unable to lead the side to success, with their latest defeat coming against Premier League champions Manchester United. However, Coyle was supportive of his friend, whom he considered
to be a great manager.
Coyle continued:
“He is a terrific manager and, more than that, he is an outstanding man, somebody I have got a lot of time for. He is very passionate and loves his football. He has done a terrific http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 wherever he has been.”
