Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle denied there was any trouble with Chelsea for central defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gary-Cahill-c14439 over a possible move in the January transfer window.
According to Coyle, there had already been a fee agreed for the 25-year-old http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international with the Blues. However, the Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas claimed the two sides were miles apart from reaching an agreement.
Cahill has been linked with a move away from the Reebok Stadium and the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 and Chelsea are thought to be interested. The Blues seemed to have won the race for Cahill, when Villas-Boas revealed a decision regarding Cahill
had not been made.
Despite the contract talks, Cahill remains a Bolton Wanderers favourite. The English defender captained his side against Wolverhampton Wanderers and came away with a crucial point. If the move does not go through, Cahill will have little to lose.
Coyle however, denied that there was a breakdown in the talks with the London side and ruled out the rumours that another club was involved. He said the deal was going well as expected and it was only a matter of time before Cahill would be a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 player.
Coyle said while speaking to reporters:
“I heard what Andre Villas-Boas said the other day that they were a bit apart. He's obviously heard from the one meeting.
They've only had one meeting with Gary's representative and then, with the games coming up, I had to make sure Gary was focused. Gary hasn't spoken to Chelsea yet.”
The Scotsman revealed there had only been one meeting between the two parties and from that he had concluded the deal was going well. He felt Villas-Boas was not entirely aware of how far the deal had progressed but mentioned how Cahill would remain a Bolton
Wanderers player if the deal somehow fell through.
He continued:
“It's like anything else, if I got into a meeting with you, we're not going to shake hands after two seconds and agree, you're going to be apart, that's how negotiations work.
Whatever comes in the next few days, it'll come, but if it doesn't then Gary remains a Bolton player.”
