Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle confirm signing Chris Eagles and Tyrone Mears from Burnley
Bolton Wanderers have signed Chris Eagles and Tyrone Mears, both Burnley players, Bolton boss Owen Coyle confirmed. Eagles, the 25-year-old midfielder and Mears, the 28-year-old defender, have each signed three year deals with the English Premier League
side.
Coyle said while speaking to reporters:
“Both http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chris-c9006 and Tyrone are top players and have shown that they have the ability to compete successfully at the highest level.”
Coyle has previously worked with Eagles and Tyrone while he was in charge of Burnley and claimed he expected great things from them. Having also recently signed Nigel Reo-Coker and Darren Pratley, Coyle felt his side were just about ready for the new campaign.
He continued:
“I have worked with them both before and know what they will bring to the club in terms of character and commitment and along with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nigel-Reo-Coker-c27884, we have added real quality to the squad.”
The attacking midfielder c*m winger revealed he was extremely pleased to have signed with his former boss at Bolton Wanderers. Eagles revealed he was looking forward to helping Bolton in the Premier League by scoring goals.
Eagles said in an interview:
“I know that it is a good squad so the challenge for me will be to work hard and then look to contribute.
I am an attacking midfielder and I will certainly be looking to chip in with some goals.”
Eagles signed for Burnley in the summer of 2008 from Manchester United on a three-year deal on an undisclosed fee. He made a total of 143 appearances for the Championship side in all competitions and scored 25 goals.
His teammate Mears revealed he was also looking forward to playing the highest level of football in England under his former manager. The defender made a total of 88 appearances in all competitions for Burnley in two years, finding the back of the net twice.
Mears signed with Burnley on a three year deal in 2009 for an initial fee of £500,000 from Derby County. He had no trouble establishing himself in the starting line-up and went on to feature in all the 38 league games, however he made his desire to leave
clear when Burnley were relegated.
Mears said:
“I'm really looking forward to working with a manager I've worked with before and playing in the Premier League.”
Even though Coyle has made four signings so far, which have considerably strengthened the squad, the Bolton Wanderers boss is reportedly still not entirely satisfied. He is still hoping to sign http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Sturridge-c10076, who spent the latter half
of last season on loan at the Reebok Stadium.
Sturridge was in terrific form, scoring 8 goals in 12 appearances in the Premier League for Bolton and while Coyle has made countless attempts to keep the striker, he has returned to Stamford Bridge. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 under-21 international is keen on remaining
with the English Premier League giants and establishing himself in the first team.
