Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle continues chase for Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge
Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle has not given up on Chelsea striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707
in the January transfer window.
Then manager Carlo Ancelotti had to make room in the squad for the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 under-21 international to the Reebok Stadium. The Italian manager also wanted Sturridge to gain valuable regular first team experience,
something that was not guaranteed at Stamford Bridge.
Surprisingly, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 forward did really well at the club, going on to score 8 goals in 12 English Premier League appearances. It was after this spell that Coyle decided he wanted to keep Sturridge for another season or so.
While Sturridge admitted he had had a good time at Bolton, he was keen on returning to Chelsea. The youngster declined the offer for an extension on the loan and returned to the London club. However, the change in manager has seen former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 boss Andre
Villas-Boas being appointed as the new Chelsea manager.
The 33-year-old Portuguese manager is most likely not to use Sturridge, which will cause the player to move away. Sturridge has already claimed he will only stay at Chelsea if he is given a chance at regular first team football.
After a bid from Stoke City for Sturridge was rejected, it seems Villas-Boas is considering the possibility of selling/loaning the player back to Bolton Wanderers. There have already been talks between the two parties. Coyle revealed he had been in talks
with the Chelsea owner, he said in an interview:
“We have had dialogue. But when you come into a club, you have got to look at the whole picture and not make pre-judgements. I have told him to settle in and have a look and then we will have a chat.”
The Bolton boss revealed he knew the Chelsea manager from when they were both earning their licences’. More than that, Villas-Boas had remained in touch while he was working under Jose Mourinho at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan. Coyle said:
“He is a terrific lad, I got on very well with him.
At the start of the course, Andre was with Jose Mourinho at Chelsea and then went off to Inter Milan. When he was there, he recommended a couple of players to me.”
Coyle was confident his acquaintance with Villas-Boas would help talks for Daniel Sturridge, the player who is currently valued at £20 million by the Blues. Coyle revealed he was certain Villas-Boas would do a good http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 at Chelsea, replacing Ancelotti.
He continued:
“We always keep in touch. I am pleased for him [that he has got the Chelsea job].
He will do well. He knows football, he is good with people and he is meticulous in what he does.”
