Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle has urged his struggling side to use the FA Cup fifth round win over Championship side Millwall as motivation to do better in the English Premier League.
Coyle’s men did not have too much difficulty defeating Millwall, scoring two goals to ensure passage into the next round of the cup competition. The goal scorers were Ryo Miyaichi and former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409 N’Gog, scoring in each half, respectively.
The Scottish manager admitted he had not expected his side to slide past Millwall so smoothly in the FA Cup clash, especially after underperforming in the Premier League. The Trotter’s have slipped into the relegation zone once again with two consecutive
defeats, just a point above last place Wigan Athletic.
Coyle said while speaking to reporters:
“There's no getting away from the fact we were disappointed with our performance in the first half last week, so it certainly gives us a good feeling to win any game and we'll take that into the Premier League with some big games ahead of us - but ones
we're looking forward to.”
Coyle admitted the Trotter’s had been terrible in the first half of the week and had somewhat surprised with their win over Millwall. More importantly, Coyle felt the team could use the win towards the end of the week to help them do well in the Premier
League.
In addition to the win, the game was important for Bolton Wanderers since they had two new players making their full debuts. Defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tim-Ream-c35103 and goal scorer Ryo Miyaichi were fantastic for the Trotters and gave Owen Coyle a reason to be optimistic about
his side’s chances of surviving relegation come end of the season. The manager was proud of his side’s performance and revealed he expected more or less the same from them in the League.
He revealed:
“We looked a real threat when we passed and moved the ball.
The object of the exercise was to make sure we're in the draw for the quarter-final. Overall it was a very good performance from start to finish, but equally there are bits and pieces you - as a manager - think you could do better.”
