Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle hopeful after signing youngsters David N’Gog and Gael Kakuta
Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle has signed Liverpool striker David N’Gog on a long term contract, along with Chelsea winger Gael Kakuta and Manchester City’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dedryck-Boyata-c10742 on a loan move. While all three players are relatively young and inexperienced,
Coyle was confident they would do well at the Reebok Stadium.
David N’Gog, the 22-year-old former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 under-21 international, left Anfield to move to Bolton Wanderers for a fee of £4 million in the summer transfer window. The French forward was aware he had to make a Liverpool exit if he wished to play regular first
team football.
There are a host of strikers present at Liverpool who are older and more experienced than N’Gog, which means the Reds boss Kenny Dalglish prefers them over the Frenchman. They include January transfer window arrivals Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Dirk-Kuyt-c11348
and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Craig-Bellamy-c9471.
The Bolton Wanderers boss revealed he was aware of the chance he had taken by signing N’Gog, who had not seen too much of first team football at Anfield. After transferring to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 in 2008 from Paris Saint-Germain, N’Gog has made 94 appearances in all
competitions and has scored 19 goals since then.
Coyle said while speaking to reporters:
“Any signing you make is a gamble, whether they be 18 or 34 because they come into a new club and have to get used to that environment.”
He insisted it was a risk bringing in any new player and that age was not necessarily a factor to consider. Coyle hoped the former Liverpool striker would adjust quickly to his new side and prove to be a successful signing for the Wanderers this season.
He continued:
“I think all three are young, exciting players, and when you have that enthusiasm and ability when you get a chance it is up to you to go show what you can do.”
Coyle, who has in the past done well to develop young players, was certain he would be able to get the best out of N’Gog. Having bought the striker for a depreciated value from Liverpool, the Bolton boss believed N’Gogs value would increase if he scored
goals this season.
Coyle added:
"Particularly with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-c10409, we spent money on a player who we think will grow and take the club on rather than paying a fee for someone who is 32 and whose value depreciates from the moment you sign them.”
In addition to N’Gog, Coyle has brought in Chelsea winger Gael Kakuta to increase the firepower this season. The 20-year-old Frenchman was supposed to join Fulham on a loan move, but Coyle intervened and secured a half-a-season loan move for the versatile
Blues player.
It was not too difficult, especially after the successful loan spell Chelsea striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Sturridge-c10076 had at the Reebok Stadium in the latter half of last season. The 22-year-old went on to score 8 goals in 12 appearances for Bolton Wanderers in the English
Premier League, after which he has been welcomed back at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786.
