Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle has revealed he is certain the struggling Trotters will be able to manage decent results against Chelsea and Manchester City in their upcoming fixtures.
A victory over Milwall saw Bolton Wanderers progress to the quarter finals of the FA Cup, but greater challenges await them in the English Premier League. Coyle’s men are scheduled to take on Chelsea and league leaders Manchester City in the Premier League.
While their position might suggest otherwise, Coyle revealed he was confident of his side doing well at Stamford Bridge and the Etihad Stadium. The Scottish manager believed his underperforming side could travel to the top Premier League clubs and come back
with valuable points.
Coyle said while speaking to reporters:
“I always say as long as we came out of the Chelsea and Man City games still in touch - as we will be - we will have played five of the top six again, we have then got games we are more than capable of winning.
It's not giving up on these next two games because I believe we can go and get points at Chelsea and City.
People might think that is a bit foolhardy but if we go and be as solid as we can be and be dangerous on the counter-attack we are capable of causing any team problems.”
Bolton Wanderers are currently second from bottom in the English Premier League table, just a point above last place Wigan Athletic. If they manage to survive the onslaught headed their way in the form of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and Manchester City, the Trotters have relatively
easier games coming up.
Coyle’s men will be taking on Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 and Wolverhampton Wanderers, respectively. Fulham and Newcastle United are next, all games Bolton Wanderers can record wins in and try and climb out of the drop zone.
Meanwhile, they will also be focusing on the FA Cup, their only shot at securing any silverware this season. Bolton Wanderers will take on Stevenage or Tottenham Hotspur, depending on whichever side manages to make it past the fifth round of the cup competition,
having previously recorded a goal-less draw.
