Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle hoping for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gary-Cahill-c14439’s red card appeal
Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle said he was hoping the FA overturned the red card given to defender Gary Cahill in the clash against Tottenham Hotspur. While the Trotters suffered defeat at the hands of the London side, they saw one of their best players
being sent off.
However, Bolton Wanderers appealed against what they thought was an unfair red card and the FA has upheld their appeal. Because of that Cahill escaped the one match ban and was able to face Aston Villa over the upcoming weekend.
The match against Aston Villa is crucial because Bolton Wanderers stand a chance of climbing out the bottom three of the English Premier League table. A loss would mean they will be resigned to the relegation zone for the Christmas period.
Coyle revealed that while he had not been certain of the appeal against the red card, they had been hopeful of a positive outcome. He admitted they hadn’t had the best of lucks in terms of suspensions and absentees and they were hoping Cahill would not join
that list.
Coyle said while speaking to reporters:
“You can never be 100% about anything. But we were confident that this would be the outcome.
Hopefully, that's the end of this run of bad luck we've been on, with suspensions and everything else.”
The Bolton Wanderers manager said they had started the season with some of their key players missing, which is why they had such a poor start to the season. However, he hoped they would bring an end to that and the Trotters would soon return to winning ways.
He revealed:
“These things are sent to test us. We've played huge chunks of three of the last five games with 10 men and that has been difficult.
But, as far as I'm concerned, the time for talking has got to stop. We have to start picking up points.”
The Scottish manager was hopeful they could start with the clash against Aston Villa over the weekend, Coyle continued:
“That starts on Saturday against Aston Villa, heading into a run of games where I think we can start moving up the table and out of a position we don't want to be in.”
