saw Arsenal concede eight goals, after which they will be looking to strengthen their defence if they wish to maintain their top four position and get past the group stages of the UEFA Champions League.
The Bolton Wanderers boss revealed he was still prepared to negotiate with Arsenal over Gary Cahill, who wanted to play Champions League football with a top club. However, Coyle insisted he would only continue talks if Arsenal were willing to offer the right
amount of money for the English defender. Cahill has gone on to establish himself as a talented defender in the past seasons with Bolton Wanderers and Coyle revealed he valued him highly.
Coyle said in an interview:
“Everybody knows Gary's desire to play for an elite club, with the Champions League and everything else.
I fully endorse that but he is an outstanding man as well as a footballer, but I've had a chat with Gary about it and he knows my opinion.
The bottom line is, we don't have to be taking poor offers.”
He continued:
“I would probably want more for Gary than would be accepted but it still has to be a good offer.
I think Gary could play for anybody, so my valuation would be higher than anybody's.”
Cahill joined Bolton Wanderers from Aston Villa in the January transfer window of 2008, after loan spells with the likes of Burnley and Sheffield United. In his five-and-a-half seasons at the club, Cahill has made a total of 129 appearances in all competitions,
scoring 14 goals and even providing 7 assists. In addition to that, Cahill received a call-up from the England national team in 2010 after he displayed consistency and form with the Trotters.
