Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle keeping hopes alive for Shaun Wright-Phillips and Daniel Sturridge
Bolton Wanderers have not given up on signing Manchester City winger http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international.
Coyle initially attempted to sign Wright-Phillips in last season’s January transfer window but was unsuccessful. Bolton were unable to reach to an agreement with Manchester City over the price of the right-winger.
However, Coyle revealed he was prepared to try again and would be holding talks with Manchester City over the winger soon. Coyle said he felt Wright-Phillips would make a good addition to the existing squad, he said while speaking to reporters:
“Shaun's a terrific player but there are a number of things that must happen for a move to come off.
So, as yet, there's not been any dialogue with Manchester City about Shaun, a fee or otherwise.
I'm reluctant to speak about other team's players but there's no doubt he's very talented.”
Wright-Phillips rejoined Manchester City in 2008 for a fee believed to be in the region of £8.5 million after a three year long unsuccessful spell with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786. Since returning he has not managed to retain a place in the starting XI.
Wright-Phillips has not managed to impress manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mancini-c23323, which is why he only made 18 appearances in all competitions last season and only managed to score 1 goal. The England international is reportedly unhappy under the Italian manager and is
considering a move away.
He has been linked with Stoke City and Aston Villa, but so far Bolton Wanderers have been the most persistent. Wright-Phillips is worth an estimated £5-7 million, a price Coyle could afford, especially if http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gary-Cahill-c14439 is sold.
Cahill, the 25-year-old defender, has been linked with the top English Premier League sides, including http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur. While there has been no official bid as yet, Cahill could be heading out if a concrete offer is made.
Another player Coyle is targeting for a move in the summer if Chelsea target http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Sturridge-c10076. The 21-year-old Blues forward spent half a season on loan with Bolton, scoring 8 goals in 12 appearances. He has returned back to Stamford Bridge but Coyle is
currently having talks with Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas over the England under-21 international.
