Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle not spending in the January transfer window
Unlike many other managers, Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle confirmed that he did not plan to buy his way out of the relegation zone in the upcoming January transfer window. The Scotsman revealed that he had never done so and did not plan on starting any
time soon.
The mid-season transfer window provides clubs with perfect opportunities to bring in reinforcements, especially when they are not doing too well, as is the case with Bolton Wanderers at the moment. However, Coyle revealed that he would not be spending in
the winter transfer window.
Coyle said in an interview:
“I've not had money anywhere I have been before. I came to the club two years ago, second-bottom of the league, and never spent a penny.”
According to the Trotters boss there were other ways of bringing in players and improving the squad, which did not involve spending any money. He was of course referring to the various players who have spent a season or slightly less at the club on a loan
move.
He continued:
“We had to be inventive bringing in Stuart Holden, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vladimir-c36322 Weiss.
If you don't have money, then there are ways and means of improving your team.”
The likes of Jack Wilshere, Stuart Holden and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Sturridge-c10076 have all spent time on loan to Bolton Wanderers. Not only did they contribute a lot to their loan club, they have all gone on to do well after returning to their parent club.
The Trotters boss added:
“If we do have the luxury of spending money, then great, but it's not something I'm beating myself up about. Whatever hand you are dealt you make the best of it.”
Coyle concluded:
“I'm at a fantastic club with great people and we all have to make sure we get ourselves out of the dangerous area we're in.”
