Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle has revealed he feels the club made good use of the money they made from selling http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in the January transfer window.
The Trotters boss Owen Coyle sold Cahill to the London side for a fee of 7 million pounds, for which he later bought http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Tim-Ream-c35103 and Marvin Sordell from New York Red Bulls and Watford respectively. According to the Scottish manager he had made good use of the
money.
Ream, the 24-year-old http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/United-States-c3034 international, made 58 appearances in the MLS before transferring to the Premier League side. He has a goal to his name and 7 appearances for the national team since 2010. Ream will be expected to replace Cahill in the
centre of defense as Bolton Wanderers look to resume the second half of the season.
Marvin Sordell on the other hand is a current http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 under-21 international and has scored twice for the national team in six appearances. He was signed from Watford, where the 20-year-old made 79 appearances in the league and found the back of the net
27 times.
Coyle said in an interview:
“I think we all accepted that Gary was going to go and once it was decided on the football side that it would happen, what we had to do on the business side was look to try to maximise the situation that we were in.
In doing that, we have then reinvested that money. We have not gone and spent the money on 32 or 33-year-olds where there is very little or no resale value.”
According to Coyle, he was looking for long term solutions to his struggling squad which is why he had brought in the likes of Ream and Sordell. The manager was hopeful the new arrivals would have a positive effect on the rest of the squad for the upcoming
fixtures.
He continued:
“That is opposed to a quick fix, somebody who will do you a turn for a year and then all of a sudden you are back to square one. We are not in a situation where we feel we need to be doing that.”
