Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle rejects http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gary-Cahill-c14439
Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle confirmed that Arsenal had made a bid for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 defender Gary Cahill, with just a few days remaining before the summer transfer window closed down. He said the Gunners had finally launched a bid after months of interest
in the 25-year-old central defender, however he revealed the bid had been below the club’s expectations.
Arsenal are believed to have offered an estimated £6 million for Cahill, who has undoubtedly been one of Bolton Wanderers best players over the past season. Coyle, who claimed he would entertain offers from other sides, revealed he was disappointed by the
bid from Arsenal since it was an insult to the player.
Coyle said while speaking to reporters:
“There was a conversation between (Bolton chairman) Phil Gartside and a representative of Arsenal.
I'm only passing this on as a third party, but the word derisory doesn't even cover it.
When I make an offer for a player, I'd like to think in the right ball park, but this wasn't even close.”
With the London side in desperate need of reinforcements before the end of the transfer window, their minimal bid makes little sense. With Coyle refusing to sell, Arsenal have little options and even little time. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will either have
to make an improved bid or set his sights elsewhere since the Trotters do not seem willing to let Cahill go cheap.
Coyle said he had spoken to the England international about the offer, having informed him of the interest from Arsenal before the Carling Cup clash against Macclesfield. While the player, who is looking for a move to a big club, has not yet spoken on the
issue, according to Coyle he was not too interested in a move to the Emirates Stadium.
Coyle continued:
“I spoke to Gary about it before the Macclesfield game, and he knows everything that's going on.”
While the Bolton Wanderers understood Cahill’s desire to move to a top four club, he was certain the centre-back would benefit by staying at the Reebok Stadium. Coyle mentioned how Cahill had received a call-up from the national team in 2010 after two years
at the club. He insisted the defender would go on to improve if he remained with the Trotters in the upcoming seasons.
Coyle said:
“I have said to Gary he can improve here with Bolton, and he has improved.
In the 18 months I have worked with him, Gary has become an integral part of the England squad because of his performances and has improved no end.”
