Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle thinks Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge would benefit from another loan spell
Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle revealed he wished to retain the services of Chelsea striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Sturridge-c10076 for another season.
The 21-year-old has easily been the best player for the Wanderers in the latter half of the season, scoring 8 goals in 12 appearances in the English Premier League.
Sturridge made a loan move to the Reebok Stadium in the January transfer window after the arrival of Fernando Torres was confirmed.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 striker joined Chelsea for a record breaking fee, which guaranteed him a place in the starting line-up.
Then Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti felt it was best to send Sturridge to another Premier League side, where he would receive first team football.
He reached an understanding with Bolton boss Owen Coyle, who promised to give the Blues striker a chance in the first team.
Sturridge made the most of that opportunity and was in top form for Bolton, making a great impact for them and often providing the match winning goals.
This has Coyle convinced that both parties will benefit from Sturridge extending his stay at Bolton, despite the striker claiming he was determined to return to Stamford Bridge for next season.
Coyle said in an interview:
“We will try and get him back here for next season.
It's a win-win situation - for the player, the parent club and for us.
I feel with Daniel that another period at Bolton will take him on to the next level and then he will be a starter for Chelsea.”
Coyle insisted the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 under-21 international would benefit from another season at Bolton, where he would be guaranteed first team football.
Regular football is not something that he will be given at Stamford Bridge, with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Salomon-Kalou-c32266 all above him in the pecking order.
The Bolton boss continued:
“Right now he is behind Drogba, Torres, Malouda, Anelka and Kalou. Like all our loan players, we give them a platform and belief they can play in the best league in the world.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Love-c22466 him back to help with his development next season.”
Even if one of the above mentioned Chelsea strikers’ make a move away, the Blues are most likely to bring in a new signing than give Sturridge a chance in the first team.
So far 19-year-old http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Neymar-c27639 and Anderlecht’s Lukaku, who is only 18-years-old, are favourites to join Chelsea in the summer.
It remains to be seen if Chelsea will keep Sturridge or make him spend another loan spell at Bolton. The player himself has made it clear on more than one occasion that he wishes to return to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and fight for a place in the starting line-up.
