Bolton Wanderers captain Kevin Davies looks forward to the new season, offers help to injured Lee Chung-Yong
Bolton Wanderers skipper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kevin-Davies-c20716 revealed he felt his side would be well prepared for the upcoming English Premier League season after their last two remaining pre-season fixtures. Bolton are set to take on Levante and York over the weekend, which will
bring an end to their so far successful pre-season, with Bolton having lost just one match so far.
Bolton lost 1-0 to Tampa Bay Rowdies, but since then have gone on to score 17 goals in just 7 matches. They are now preparing for their clash over the weekend and most of the first-team players are expected to start. Davies said he was confident ahead of
new Premier League season, which was set to kick off on August 13th.
Davies said on the club’s official website:
“Pre-season has gone pretty well.
The squad is getting bigger and there have been some good additions. Everybody is getting fitter day by day and we have had some good tests in the games that we have played.”
He continued:
“We've been working extremely hard from day one of pre-season up until now and the wins obviously breed confidence.
They have been enjoyable games in which we've played good stuff and scored plenty of goals.”
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international was certain the upcoming season would be tough, like any Premier League season and insisted it was important to be well prepared. According to Davies, good results in pre-season were important to ensure confidence when the season
began. Bolton Wanderers face newly promoted side Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 in their first English Premier League fixture of the season.
While most of the Bolton players are well prepared for the upcoming season, South Korean international http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lee-Chung-Yong-c21873 will be missing up to nine months, having broken his leg last weekend. The 23-year-old right flank winger will be sidelined for the better
part of the season and is expected to return towards the end of the 2011-2012 season.
Davies wished the South Korean winger a fast recovery and offered his sympathies to his teammate, claiming he would be willing to help Chung-Yong if need be. Davies revealed he had accompanied Chung-Yong to the hospital after the incident and the rest of
the squad had visited him just a day later.
Davies said:
“He seems a lot better now than he did a couple of days ago and I'm sure he will be happy to get home when he is able to do so.
We will help him through it like we should do.”
Chung-Yong signed with Bolton Wanderers in the summer of 2009 from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Seoul-c39205 on a fee of £2.2 million on a three year deal. With two years at the club, he has made a total of 76 appearances in all competitions and has found the back of the net nine times,
providing 16 assists.
