Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill relieved to have international break
Bolton Wanderers defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gary-Cahill-c14439 revealed he was actually relieved to have had time off club football during the international break. The England international has so far been busy with the international break with his national team which has been keeping
him distracted from the English Premier League.
The 25-year-old had a tough time in the summer transfer window, having been linked with various clubs but at the end having to stay at the Reebok Stadium. Cahill revealed he was pleased with the break he had received, which gave him a much needed break.
Cahill said in an interview:
“It's been a rollercoaster season for me, and it's been really tough at club level. But at international level it's been great, as we've qualified and done really well.”
The likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and Tottenham Hotspur were all heavily linked with buying Cahill in the summer transfer window. However, according to Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle, none of the three clubs met the club’s expected fee for the English defender.
It was for this reason that Cahill ended up staying with the Trotters, even though he had made it clear he was looking to play UEFA Champions League football. Coyle on the other hand, refused to let the player go for less than what the club expected to receive
from his sale.
Cahill admitted it had been tough for him during the summer, and even now, with many clubs showing interest with the winter transfer window fast approaching. However, there has been no official link as yet so Cahill looks to be staying with Bolton Wanderers
until further notice.
He continued:
“It's been difficult personally. I need to get back fully focused and play the way I know I can.”
That however, does not mean things have been made easier for Cahill. The uncertainty has the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international unsettled and is keeping him from focusing on playing football, something which is the most important thing for him at this point in his career.
While on international duty, with the English Premier League resuming this weekend, Cahill will be hoping his future decides itself so he can focus on playing football, hopefully with a club competing in the Champions League.
