Bolton Wanderers defender Sam Ricketts looking forward to return
Bolton Wanderers defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wales-c3041 international could very well be playing for the reserve side in a fortnight if things go according to plan.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 C international sustained an Achilles injury in February during the FA Cup fixture against Wigan Athletic and has been sidelined since then. However, he has now returned to full training and is optimistic about his nearing return.
Ricketts said while speaking to reporters:
“It's going very well. I'm hoping to be back outside training with the lads any time soon, even if it is for just half a session.
From that I will be looking to build it up to full sessions and then progress into playing games in the reserve team.”
According to Ricketts his rehabilitation process had been going really well and that he had fully recovered from the ruptured Achilles tendon injury earlier on in the year. He admitted that while he had returned to training, he had not exactly been playing
football.
He revealed:
“It will be the first time that I will have kicked a ball in over eight months, although I have done some ball work in the one-to-one sessions with the physios.”
Ricketts, who began his senior football career with Oxford United, admitted he was looking forward to finally returning to playing football. He signed for Bolton Wanderers from Hull City in the summer of 2009 for a fee of £2 million on a three year deal.
Ricketts continued:
“I'm not too sure how quickly I will be able to start playing reserve matches, but hopefully within the next two weeks I will be able to get a short run out.”
Since then the Welshman has made a total of 44 appearances in the English Premier League for the Wanderers. Having missed most of the end of the last season and the beginning of the current season, Ricketts will be looking to make an impact towards the end
of the season with his side not doing too well in the Premier League.
