Bolton Wanderers defender Zat Knight urges Trotters to step up
Zat Knight, the Bolton Wanderers defender, admitted his side had to rediscover their form soon if they wished to avoid relegation and make opponents fear them in the future. After their 12th defeat of the season, the Trotters have slipped to the
bottom of the league as the January transfer window approaches.
The poor form this season has resulted in doubts over Owen Coyle as manager of the club, but according to Knight the squad was to blame. The 31-year-old defender felt the entire team needed an improvement, which would result in better results in the upcoming
fixtures.
Knight said while speaking to reporters:
“We have to do better all over the park - in defence, midfield and up front. There's no point doing the work on the training ground and then not putting that into place in the games.”
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international felt training was pointless if it was not providing favourable results, as was the case with his side. While they had stepped up their efforts in training, Knight felt they needed to do the same on the pitch and deliver results
instead of just talking about improvement.
He urged his teammates to fight and make an effort because none of them wanted to be in the bottom three of the English Premier League table. It was for this reason that they had to build some confidence and prove to others and themselves that they could
return to winning ways.
Knight revealed:
“We need to fight because we don't want to be down there. We have to go out and grind out results, even if it is just starting with a point.”
The Trotters defender felt his side had to return to the side from last season that the other club’s feared, instead of the easy to defeat Bolton Wanderers. After a loss to Aston Villa, Bolton Wanderers travel to Fulham on the next match day.
He continued:
“We need to get back to the nitty-gritty and be horrible, hard-to-beat Bolton. We need to be a team that others fear and when the time comes to play us for them to know they have been in a game.”
