Bolton Wanderers eye Sporting Gijon striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ricardo-Gardner-c30990 given contract extension
Bolton Wanderers are considering a move for Nacho Novo, the 32-year-old Sporting Gijon forward, in the summer transfer window.
With just a year remaining on his current contract with the La Liga outfit, Novo is reportedly looking for a move away and has his sights set on the English Premier League.
His possible transfer comes right in time for Bolton boss Owen Coyle, who is currently looking to strengthen his strike force with experienced strikers.
Coyle has failed to secure the services of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Sturridge-c10076, who scored 8 goals in 12 fixtures, which is why he is now looking elsewhere.
Sturridge is desperate for first team football with a top side, having failed to secure a place in the first team with the Blues.
He has been linked with the likes of West Bromwich Albion, Stoke City, Newcastle United and Manchester United.
While Coyle is aware that Novo would not provide a long-term solution like Sturridge would have, he would definitely lift up the Trotters in the few upcoming seasons.
Novo signed with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sporting-89-c40576 Gijon on a two year deal in the summer of 2010 from Scottish Premier League side Rangers.
The Spaniard had a successful six year spell with the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 after signing with them in 2004 for a fee of £450,000.
Novo made a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Total-c40747 of 255 appearances in all competitions and scored 73 goals for the Scottish outfit, a form which he couldn’t quite recreate for Sporting Gijon.
He managed to find the back of the net 4 times in 30 appearances in the La Liga, which is most likely the reason why he is looking for a possible move away.
Bolton would make the perfect club for the 32-year-old striker, especially with the club having sent out Ricardo Gardner on a loan move to Preston North End.
The 32-year-old Jamaican winger was linked with a move to Premier League rivals West Ham United after running out of his contract with Bolton.
However, he chose to sign a contract extension with the Wanderers instead of moving to Upton Park and will now begin his fourteenth season with Bolton.
Coyle felt the winger could benefit a move to Championship side Preston North End, which would help him regain match fitness.
