Bolton Wanderers midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nigel-Reo-Coker-c27884 praised teammate Chris Eagles for his superb performance against Wigan Athletic last weekend and urged him to retain his form. The 25-year-old forward was undoubtedly one of the best players for the Trotters as
they recorded their second win of the current Premier League season.
Having begun his career with Premier League giants Manchester United, Eagles has not enjoyed the success that was expected of him. After spending time with various Championship sides, Eagles moved to Burnley on a more permanent basis in 2008. However, his
form attracted attention and Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle decided to sign the winger c*m attacking midfielder in the summer transfer window.
Reo-Coker said while speaking to reporters:
“Chris is a fantastic player but he's in the Premier League now, the challenge is for him to put in performances like that week-in, week-out.”
According to Reo-Coker the English forward has heaps of talent which needed to be further developed before he could go on to be a top class player. The midfielder was certain Eagles would improve with regular appearances for the Trotters in the English Premier
League, with the former Manchester United man not even having played the full 90 minutes as yet.
He revealed:
“It's an unforgiving league and he's a young player still and he has to step up to the plate.
He has the ability and no-one else can do that.”
Eagles goal against Wigan Athletic, which was his first in the Premier League, could encourage Coyle to use him in the upcoming matches. With Bolton Wanderers currently in the bottom half of the table, Reo-Coker was confident his side had the ability to
improve. They had already shown improvement with the win, right after returning from the international break and Reo-Coker was certain there was more to come.
Reo-Coker continued:
“We've put in a lot of hard work. There has been no change in the manager, no change in the players - it has been the same at the training ground, the same attitude, the same smiley spirit.
But if you want to turn things round, you have to work at it and that's what we have done. We've had a mini pre-season.”
