Bolton Wanderers midfielder Stuart Holden positive about his recovery and return
Stuart Holden, the Bolton Wanderers midfielder, revealed that while he was disappointed with having to undergo surgery he was recovering well from the knee injury. His initial injury had him sidelined him for over six months last March, with his return further
postponed this September.
However, the 26-year-old chose to look at the bright side of things; the fact that he was finally on the road to recovery after almost being out for a year. The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/United-States-c3034 international admitted he was quite let down by the lengthy time off, but was now
recovering well.
Holden said while speaking to reporters:
“I'd be lying if I said I wasn't devastated and in that deep, dark hole for a couple of weeks. I initially thought I'd be going in for a routine operation.
I'd work so hard the last six months to get playing and for that to happen, I needed to switch my phone off and needed time to myself.”
Having previously played in the English Premier League with Sunderland, Holden once again returned to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 when he signed with the Bolton Wanderers in the January transfer window of 2010. Shortly after though, he picked up the knee injury against Manchester
United in March.
Holden revealed he had had time to himself during the lengthy lay off, where he had focused on his recovery and return. He admitted it was tough in rehabilitation but he was managing just fine and was looking forward to being fit for both club and country.
He revealed:
“I've done everything I can do so far in rehab, I've really got my head back on straight and I'm actually looking forward to doing the work because I know once I get back it'll all have been worth it.”
So far Holden has made 34 appearances in all competition for the Trotters and has only scored two goals. Despite his consistent unavailability, the player revealed the club and manager Owen Coyle had been more than supportive throughout the tough period.
Holden admitted:
“The club has always been good about encouraging me to get time back home.”
