Coyle said in an interview:
“We're delighted to have signed Nigel.
He's got the quality, drive and desire to compete at the highest level in the Barclays Premier League and I'm delighted that we have been able to bring him to the club.”
Reo-Coker joined Aston Villa in the summer transfer window of 2007 from West Ham United on a four-year deal for an estimated £8.5 million. During his four years at the club, the Englishman went on to make a total of 102 appearances in the Premier League, scoring just a single goal.
