While the Trotters managed a consolation goal, they were unable to see through the beginnings of the come-back and were once again left with a defeat.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international has urged his side to return to winning ways and admitted he did not necessarily deserve to be the starting XI before last week. Davies felt his performance had improved after he was dropped and made to realize that there were plenty
of other players to replace him if his form was not up to the standard. The message was well received and Davies has returned a motivated player.
Davies said in an interview:
“I don't think my form has been great and I rightly found myself out of the side. Maybe because I was playing consistently, I took my eye off it.
There's competition for places now and I found myself out of the reckoning. Maybe that's what I needed. I felt I performed a little better in our last game against Chelsea.”
Davies said he had realized that as the captain of the club he had a bigger responsibility than the other players, which is why he had to ensure he was always in top form. He admitted his poor performances could have been because of lack of confidence, which
he had now regained thanks to Coyle. Davies revealed he was ready to lead his side in the upcoming fixtures.
He continued:
“Perhaps I lacked a little bit of confidence in myself, I'm not too sure, but I'm back in the side and I'm captain of the club so I feel I've got a big part to play.”
With just three points from their opening seven fixtures in the Premier League, Bolton Wanderers sit at the bottom of the Premier League table. Having taken on the top teams, the Trotters will now face the lesser teams and stand a chance of securing much
needed points in the fixtures after the international break. Davies urged his side to put the poor start behind them and focus on the upcoming games.
Davies said:
“We have to put this all behind us and get a positive result against Wigan in a couple of weeks.”
