Bolton Wanderers have now lost six matches in their last seven and are currently at the bottom of the Premier League table. Since the beginning of the 2011-2012 season, they have managed to secure just nine points and remain in the relegation zone as the
New Year approaches.
There are a host of reasons for why the Trotters have failed to make an impact this season, with a tough fixture list the most commonly used one. Long term injuries have also played a big role in their inability to secure any wins in the current season.
However, Davies revealed they could not let the above mentioned reasons hold them back and keep them in the relegation zone. The 34-year-old striker urged his side to stop playing the blame game and step up their efforts to climb up the table.
Davies said in an interview:
“We can't keep looking for excuses. The fixtures, the injuries, they have been tough for us but that's what the squad is for.”
The Trotters captain revealed the manager had not been too pleased with the players, who had shown lack of effort since the beginning of the season. He urged the team to improve their form and try and climb up the table in time for the Christmas period.
He revealed:
“The manager will be working hard and will be asking the players to get us out of this mess. We feel the next four games are massive for us.”
Davies continued:
“It's a similar type of feeling. You are in the bottom three and it's not great. But it's worse if you're in there come April time then it really is worrying times.
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international admitted he was extremely disappointed by his side’s performance and was hoping they would soon shape up and return to winning ways. Bolton travel to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham in their next English Premier League fixture.
He added:
“It's disappointing to have taken nine points from 15 games.
But we have got two tough away games coming up now (against Fulham and Blackburn), and luck can soon turn.”
