Bolton Wanderers vs. Chelsea – Premier League Review (Part 1)
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 were able to win their first away game since October.
It was the Brazilian midfielder, Ramirez, who scored the last goal for Chelsea, as the English Champions kept themselves alive in the Premier League and closed the gap between themselves and Manchester City.
There were many moves made by Chelsea that found the back of the net as Bolton Wanderers were left frustrated in their home ground, the Reebok Stadium.
All the three strikers scored for Carlo Ancelloti’s side and it definitely looked to be positive for them, especially after such a bad phase in the English Premier League.
The Brazilian midfielder who signed a contract with Chelsea in summer, managed to score the first goal of the game and the first goal of his Chelsea career.
It was a memorably night for the youngster as he helped Chelsea take all three points while being away from home.
It was like a “must-win-situation” for Bolton. Not because they would get relegated and slip in the Premier League table.
In fact it was because the crowd expected a lot from them. It was for the first time that Bolton was performing in the Reebok Stadium after the death of Nat Lofthouse and The Lion of Vienna.
The expectations from the team were high and the fans thought that their team could do wonders, especially with Chelsea being out of form.
With so much enthusiasm in the Bolton team, the Trotters made a perfect start to the game. It took the home team only three minutes to threaten Chelsea’s defensive walls.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Petr-Cech-c29837’s safe hands as the Chelsea keeper punched the ball to safety.
Bolton was pressing high on Chelsea’s defensive walls. They looked to be the favourites to score the first goal of the game.
However, just a casual pass from Flourent Malouda was turned into a goal by Chelsea’s predator. It was Didier Drogba who found the ball at his feet for a long range shot.
The Ivorian had ample of space to shoot and he made no mistake as he unleashed his shot on Jussi Jaaskelainen’s goal. The ball found the back of the net and Bolton slipped from their momentum that they built since the game started.
It only took Chelsea 11 minutes to get things going in the Reebok Stadium.
The momentum was lost, the wind that was helping Bolton sail towards Chelsea had changed directions and it was Carlo Ancelloti’s team who were in the top flight after the first goal.
Bolton, on the other hand, was trying to regroup in order to press the away team’s defensive walls. Even though Chelsea looked to be flying high after the strike from Didier Drogba, the next chance came in for Bolton Wanderers.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Matthew-Taylor-c24839 found himself at the other end of the cross and headed the ball perfectly towards the bottom right corner of the goal.
However, the invincible Petr Cech once again pushed the ball towards safety. With this save, the Chelsea number 1 managed to maintain his record of not conceding a single goal in the Reebok Stadium.
Chelsea kept on pressing towards Bolton’s 10-man defensive walls. The home team looked to be defending for the last ten minutes of the first half.
It was definitely hard for Chelsea to break a defensive line with so many men. However, the Frenchman Flourent Malouda managed to become a key that unlocked all the doors in the defensive walls of Bolton Wanderers and scored an outstanding goal from a very
unusual angle.
